Loss of Suction
- Dirty filter: Remove and clean the cartridge filter, foam sleeve, or dust bag. Replace if damaged or clogged.
- Full tank: Empty the collection tank before continuing operation.
- Blocked hose: Disconnect the hose and check for debris, sawdust buildup, plastic pieces, screws, or shop waste.
- Loose connection: Make sure the hose, extension wand, and nozzle are firmly attached.
Vacuum Will Not Start
- No power: Check the outlet, extension cord, breaker, and power switch.
- Overheated motor: Turn the vacuum off, unplug it, and allow it to cool before restarting.
- Damaged cord: Do not use the vacuum if the power cord is cracked, cut, or exposed.
- Switch failure: If power is available but the motor does not run, the switch or motor assembly may need service.
Wet Pickup Problems
- Wrong filter installed: Remove the paper or cartridge filter before wet pickup unless your model manual allows wet use with a specific filter.
- Float valve activated: If suction suddenly stops during wet pickup, the tank may be full and the float has closed the airflow.
- Tank not sealed: Check that the lid is properly locked onto the tank before operation.
Dust Blowing From Exhaust
- Filter missing: Install the correct Craftsman filter before dry vacuuming.
- Filter not seated: Make sure the filter is fully seated and locked in place.
- Damaged filter: Replace torn, cracked, or heavily worn filters immediately.
Unusual Noise or Vibration
- Debris in hose or inlet: Inspect the hose, intake port, and nozzle for hard objects.
- Loose lid or tank: Confirm that all latches are closed and the tank is stable.
- Motor issue: Stop using the vacuum if grinding, burning smell, or heavy vibration occurs.
Safety note: Always unplug the vacuum before cleaning filters, removing blockages, emptying the tank, or inspecting internal parts. Never vacuum hot ashes, flammable liquids, gasoline, solvents, or explosive dust.
